our history
Born in the Bogotá Savannah, Rosas Aguaclara began as a small project with a big vision: to grow flowers that inspire, connect, and last.
From our first bud to bunches now sent across the globe, we have grown with intention, cared for the land, and worked as one to share beauty that endures.
What started in the soil now reaches the world, one rose at a time.
“My father taught me that good things grow when you care for them. That’s all we’ve ever done.”
– RAFAEL BOADA
In 1973, the Aguaclara cattle farm was born. It was one of the leading livestock breeding companies in Colombia, managed and founded by Ricardo Boada, a man with deep ties to the land and a strong sense of legacy. After his passing in 1978, his son Rafael Boada carried that legacy forward, maintaining the values of hard work and stewardship that would later shape our approach to floriculture.
In 1985, Rafael entered the world of floriculture as an agricultural engineer at Flor América, a pioneering flower company in the country. There, he learned the craft from two extraordinary mentors, Peter Hannaford and Abraham Halevy, who inspired in him a lasting passion for flowers and the science behind them.
By 1990, Rafael co-founded Agricola Circasia Ltd., a flower company that continues to operate today with him as an active partner.
In 2004, a bold transition took place: the Aguaclara farm shifted from cattle to cut flowers (carnations). That same year, Rafael´s partner Alberto Bermúdez and Jose Luis Suárez joined the journey by founding with Rafael, Matina Flowers S.A.S which he still co-leads today. Then, in 2006, Rosas Aguaclara officially began. A family-grown project with a global vision.
What began as a tribute to legacy and passion has become a blooming expression of purpose. Today, Rosas Aguaclara stands at the crossroads of tradition and innovation, rooted in the wisdom of the past and reaching toward a more sustainable and connected future.
